I offer supervision for mental health professionals and physicians, and I teach to larger groups. I have lectured on ISTDP to psychiatry residents at the University of Virginia, Cornell, and the University of Texas. I have also led a four week ISTDP course through Austin Psychoanalytic and a presentation on somatic countertransference with my friend and collaborator, Robin Cann, and have presented at the last two International Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy Association conferences.
If you are interested in supervision with me or would like to join my email list to be notified about upcoming trainings, please contact me at training@lizalfsonmd.com.
Reviews
"Thank you so much to you and Robin for the presentation on somatic countertransference. You opened my eyes to a whole new world." - Donna, psychotherapist, Montreal
"Liz comes across as such a fundamentally grounded, kind, super-competent, smart human being who does what she does in that sweet spot of loving and serving others AND stretching, learning, growing, using expertise while seeking constant improvement AND enjoying the process. Good-humoured, attentive, present, warm, respectful-and-collegial. Happy the patients who have Liz as therapist; happy her colleagues, peers, supervisees, mentees, and students; and happy the others in whose life she plays a part.... Absolutely brilliant balance / mix / combination of mastery of the conceptual material; commitment to the model but with a catholicity and generosity of spirit and a complete lack of tribalism; evident clinical genius – SO intentional and so with it...truly excellent presentation and teaching skills." - David, psychotherapist, UK
